5 Wedding Trends for 2016 | Bridal Series | Ali Leigh Photo

I spent some time going through my wedding blogs, curating a list of my favorite wedding trends of 2016! Weddings seem to be getting more unique, creative + fun as the years go on, and it makes me SO happy! You're allowed to have FUN with the details, and truly represent who you are. Take these ideas as inspirations from so many talented photographers for yours (or your best friend, sister's, or your dream) 2016 wedding!

Here we GO!

1. Metallics

Okay, we all probably saw this one coming.. since it sneaked in pretty heavily by the end of 2015, but there's something about golds + metallics that have us all swooning!

2. Unique Venues

The more unique, the better, right?! Weddings these days are ALL about bringing in your personality + interests. Love books? Get married at the library! Love the outdoors? Summer camps, on a lake, at a state park. Greenhouses, historic mansions, historic paper mills. Some venues allow couples to need minimal decor since they bring the vibe + speak for itself. Botanical gardens are AWESOME for this! Here's a blog with some snapshots of a friend's Des Moines Botanical Center wedding.

3, Suspended Decor

Lighting, florals, books, you name it!! Finding unique ways to display decor is huge, and so wonderful in my opinion.

4. Bring the Outdoors In

utdoor weddings are hard to beat with the unique feel of getting married in the fresh air + amongst all sorts of greenery, but if you're getting married inside, bring the outdoors in with you! Florals, ivy vines, dried flowers, gathered wildflowers.. they all bring a rustic bohemian feel and are typically the cheaper route! Win, win.

There you have it!! This list could go on and on, with the ever growing list of wedding trends (thanks, Pinterest!), but these 5 should get you started with some wedding inspiration! Make sure to fill the day with pieces of what you two love - whether in the menu, how you wear your hair, or decor at the reception. Can't wait to see what 2016 brides bring to the table (literally ;)!)
