The Draw Appleton | Ladies Night #communityovercompetition

Taylor and I have lived in Appleton for exactly 5 months (tomorrow!) and I’m in  l o v e  with the community here. From week one, when someone started talking to me at Copper Rock Coffee which ended up in another time meeting up. People are SO welcoming here, and it’s only multiplied as I’ve gotten to know the creative community more.

I’ve made some amazing friends through The Rising Tide Society‘s #920Tuesdays group, where a group of creative entrepreneurs meet the first Tuesday of every month. We cheer each other on, learn from one another, collaborate on projects, + talk about different topics on creative entrepreneurship. It’s not all glam – it usually involves not showering, long days + late nights, sweat pants ;), and it can get so lonely if you do it alone. *If you’re interested in more info on that group – even in different cities, I would love to help! It’s all about #communityovercompetition.

Last night, Aj Miller from VAMP Artistry, a local make up artist, stylist, + event coordinator at The Draw, hosted the very FIRST Ladies Night at The Draw in downtown Appleton to showcase the women with workspaces there + bring together other creative women in the Fox Cities. The Draw is a local collaborative workspace with painters, sculptors, designers, make up artists, musicians, etc. They also hosts events, weddings, + art shows and Aj helps head all of that up! We drank wine, hung out with old friends + new, heard stories from women who are making their dreams turn into reality, + ate some really stinking good food.

She plans on hosting an event the last Wednesday of every month, so I highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area! It is such an honor to get to know other creatives + the incredible people that make up this community.

With love,

Ali Leigh
